Heated Conversation – Rum Fire

Rum fire was introduced to us at Smuggler’s Cove as the hogo-iest (Jamaican funkiest) rum. I hated it at first. And then… love.

Despite its very strong character, it makes for a surprisingly lovely base spirit in cocktails. For instance, it makes a killer daquiri base. We visited the Rum Fire table at the California Rum Festival and ended up grabbing almost all of the cocktail cards they had on display.

Since we have been getting into fino sherry, we decided to first make the Heated Conversation, a combination of separately delicious liquors: Amaro Montenegro, Fino Sherry, and (of course) Rum Fire. The cocktail was concocted by Forrest C of A Drink with Forrest and submitted to Mixology Monday.

Was this stirred or shaken? You imply both somewhat in the instructions. I’m assuming stirred by the photo and lack of citrus – but given the overproof maybe the additional dilution would be nice 🙂

Thanks for all the great posts.
