The Revolver Cocktail hails from one of our favorite local San Francisco bay area watering holes: Prizefighter in Emeryville. Prizefighter is one of those rare unpretentious cocktail bars where locals, out of towners, cocktail “enthusiasts” (aka snobs), and beer drinkers, all feel at home. Most of the cocktails at the bar are simple but delicious. The Revolver is no exception. It features just three ingredients: Bulleit bourbon, Coffee Liqueur, and orange bitters.
Jon Santer, Prizefighter’s founder, introduced the drink in 2003 and used Tia Maria, a Jamacian coffee liqueur. We didn’t have any on hand, but really found that it went well with St. Georges’ NOLA Liqueur. The Revolver drinks like a coffee Manhattan. Spirit forward, wonderful taste of whiskey, and a dash of coffee.
