I found this one on Imbibe after scrolling through then large number of grasshopper cocktails dotting the front page (it is their featured cocktail). The name alone was enough to convince my inner fantasy need that I wanted to try it. The Storm King is a simple, whisky-forward drink. The original calls for Amaro Nocino, which I don’t have, but the close substitute I have is a beautiful Austrian amaro (Golles Edelbitters) that I’d used in a single cocktail to date, the Black Walnut Manhattan.
The Storm King is a twist on the Rob Roy. The drink comes from Damon Boelte at Grand Army, a bar in Brooklyn. It’s well balanced with a pronounced dose of dark walnut, toffee, and caramel.
