This review is from a set of reviews we did, blind tasting a line of single cask Plantation rums at Smugglers Cove. We only did the reveal of the rums after we had finished tasting through the line-up. We also independently wrote down tasting notes and scores; somewhat to our surprise, our notes and scores agreed very well (scores either exactly the same or off by a single point).
The Plantation Peru was finished in Pineau des Charentes, a regional French blend of lightly fermented grape must (a slightly alcoholic precursor to wine), mix with Cognac eau-de-vie.

Nose: Very light nose, sugar, butterscotch, salt, leather, saltine crackers, mahogany, oak, caramel, salt water taffy.
