Grape and Gin Cocktail

They say to never enter a grocery store hungry. I entered it exceedingly thirsty. I had stood for a 40-minute long wait outside of the Whole Foods in the blaring sunshine.

I ended up hauling back a lot of fruits. Pears, apples, grapes, and nectarines. The problem is that while I enjoy fruits, the intemperate amount that I bought was likely to spoil if I didn’t get creative. I made a few smoothies to store – and also started to research cocktails for fresh fruit.

I came across a recipe from Tamara’s Table named simply “Grape and Gin” cocktail. I am usually skeptical of food bloggers’ cocktails, because their cocktails tend to the low proof realm and can either be too basic or too “artsy”, with no middle ground. But a quick skim of the ingredients (3 oz of gin – nice – although she calls them “3 shots” of gin), some Saint Germain, lemon juice, and fresh grapes looked simple enough. To my utter surprise, the drink is delightful.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 fresh seedless grapes
  • 3 oz of gin
  • 1 oz Saint Germain
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • More grapes for garnish

Cocktail Glass (Nick and Nora)

Instructions

  • Muddle the grapes at the bottom of a shaker
  • Add ice and gin, Saint Germain, and lemon juice
  • Stir and strain into a cocktail glass
  • Garnish with grapes
