Here Be Chickens

Roman cartographers often labeled unknown areas of their maps hic svnt leones, or “here are lions.” Their Medieval counterparts famously used the phrase “here be dragons” and drew sea monsters on uncharted locations. With 16 billion chickens on the planet, “here be chickens” is a more accurate way to label the globe today!

One member of our Drunken Diplomacy team is a little, how do we say, amaro obsessed. We’ve accumulated around a dozen amaros in our humble bar. For the unacquainted, Amaros are a wide ranging, generally bitter class of alcoholic beverages made by macerating plants in a neutral spirit. Amaro Sfumato, is a bitter rhubarb concoction that can be tough to wrangle in cocktails. We were tinkering with a dual tequila and rum base when we came up with a concoction that was definitely missing something. When we added 3/4 of an ounce of Sfumato it became fucking delicious.

The final result is an earthy, somehow spicy daiquiri taste with a heavy dose of spice and a subtle smoky bitter end palate.
