What’s better than a bit of Cynar? A whole shitload of Cynar! The Bitter Giuseppe is hails from the violet hour in Chicago where it was invented by Stephen Cole. I stumbled on the drink after trying its cousin the “Salty Stephen” which uses 2 oz of Sweet Vermouth, 0.75 oz of bourbon, and a bit of Cynar with a dash of salt for good measure.
The verdict? The original is better-er (and bitter-er).
