Friday Cynar Negroni

The Negroni is said to have originated in Florence in the aftermath of World War I when Fosco Scarselli added “a little something extra” to Count Camillo Negroni’s Americano cocktail. By replacing the soda with gin, he created a legendary cocktail.

The Negroni is a perennial favorite in our house. Nothing better to kick off the weekend then starting with the bitter, spirit forward drink. In the search for the perfect Negroni we’ve gone through dozens of amaros, vermouths and gins. While we still aren’t done with the search, we are proud to put forward this Negroni variant to the world. It’s a great way to start off a weekend – drinking in bitterness will make you feel better.

This Negroni uses a balance of Cynar, the powerful artichoke amaro, Dolin Rouge a delicate, sweet vermouth with a hint of bitter at the end, and St. George’s earthy Terroir Gin to make a bitter forward Negroni. If you’re looking for something a little less bitter, you can take the Cynar and Sweet Vermouth down to .75 oz.
