Fire Fire
I just picked up a bottle of Rum Fire a few weeks ago and I’ve been pouring it liberally. For those who haven’t tried it yet, Rum Fire is probably the funkiest Jamaican Rum on the market. Hailing from Hampden Estates, you can smell it if a bottle is opened within a mile. The Rum Fire label looks like it was designed as a seventh grader’s first Photoshop project, but the rum inside is something unique. I learned about Jamaican rums from Smuggler’s Cove and fell in love immediately.
For the uninitiated, Jamaican rums differ from most other rums with their inclusion of Dunder. According to the cocktail wonk:
“Exactly what comprises dunder is shrouded in mystery, but dig around a bit and you’ll find references to goat heads, dead bats, and worse, churning in a lethal, volatile mass of evil death stored in an earthen pit, presumably somewhere near the distillery for easy access.”
Vida mescal and Rum Fire work well together. Two powerful ingredients that just click.
